Dry Eye Study of an Investigational Eye Drop
July 2009, Toronto, ON
Dr. Barbara Caffery is looking to recruit subjects for a dry eye research study in which an investigational eye drop will be tested. The study drug has been used in previous studies on over 2000 subjects with dry eye disease.
We are seeking subjects that are 18 years of age or older who have been diagnosed with dry eye disease at least six months prior to screening and have used or desired to use artificial tears during the same time. Subjects will NOT qualify if they are pregnant or lactating, or unable to discontinue all eye drops except the study drop and Refresh Plus during the study.
Travel expenses of $30.00 per visit will be covered.
If you are interested in this study please contact Dr. Vasuki Anandan, study coordinator, at Yorkville Eye Clinic at 416-921-2375 to review your qualifications by phone. We will be happy to set up a schedule that works for you.
The Longitudinal Impact of Sjogren’s Syndrome
July 2009
A Very Important Study is Underway and We Need Your Help
Dr. Barbara Caffery is supervising Melissa Oliver, an optometry student who won the 2009/$4000.00 Sjogren’s Society of Canada grant for research, in a summer pilot project entitled The Longitudinal Impact of Sjogren’s Syndrome. They need 25 SS patients to fill out some questionnaires for them on line and by mail to determine if they can follow SS patients over time to understand the impact of SS on your lives. This may be the start of something VERY IMPORTANT as the long term effect and course of this disease are rarely studied.
The only qualification is that you must be diagnosed with Sjogren’s syndrome and be over 20 years of age. If you can help get this project going please email Dr. Caffery at dr.b.caffery@hotmail.com and Melissa will contact you by phone to review the protocol and procedures.
